The World Bird Sanctuary’s mission is to preserve the earth’s biological diversity and to secure the future of threatened bird species in their natural environments. We work to fulfill that mission through education, captive breeding, field studies and rehabilitation.

A Halloween Goblin
When you visitthe World Bird Sanctuary, be sure to look for Goblin, our frighteningly adorable barn owl!
Here you see Goblin doing his best Dracula impression!
As a volunteer photographer for the World Bird Sanctuary I am fortunate to be able to get very close to the birds. However, visitors can also get this close--especially at our special events.
The owl in these photos, Goblin, was hand raised by the staff so that he would be very comfortable with people. He will meet thousands of guests in his lifetime--especially schoolchildren, so he needs to be calm and comfortable in their presence.
Amazing! how near were you to the owl?
